LearningPoint
Key Benefits of LearningPoint
Differentiated Learning
LearningPoint has the functionality to provide all users with an individualised view. For students, teachers and parents this means that they receive only the information that is relevant to them.
For example when a student is viewing their classes, the teacher has the option to provide each class group with, resources and tasks that are appropriate for their stage of development. There is also the ability for students and teachers to participate in group discussions where they can contribute and receive feedback through the discussion forum.
Other examples of the individualised view are the personalised timetable, calendar, extra curricular activities information, news, bulletins and events. Rather than being bombarded with countless pieces of information about everything that is taking place in the school, they will only see what is relevant to them or to the school as a whole.
Teachers and parents also receive a personalised view of school information.
LearningPoint is flexible and can easily be structured and customised to reflect the needs of campuses, departments, form groups and houses.
Organisation and Accountability
For administrators LearningPoint is a valuable organisational tool as all class and extra curricular activities are stored online, there is always a point of reference for everything that takes place in the school. Attendance records, assessment, curriculum content and personal information are online and can be referred to from year to year.
The organisational value of LearningPoint extends beyond administrators to all users by creating a sense of ‘accountability'. Teachers are prompted to prepare assessment criteria, select due dates and grade allocation prior to loading tasks onto LearningPoint. For students, they can easily keep track of all homework and tasks as well as the associated resources for each. Lost notices and project sheets are no longer a problem.
Communication & Collaboration
LearningPoint improves communication through-out the entire school community. It very quickly becomes a tool that is relied on as a central source and repository of school information. Users log in to LearningPoint much the same as they log on to email whether they are at home, in the office, on holiday or within the school ground itself.
For teachers it is a collaborative work environment where they can easily access and share curriculum resources. Newsletter, bulletins, guidelines, policies, handbooks, templates and minutes are all stored on LearningPoint and can be referenced via the ‘Staff Room' facility. It also provides a direct line to their students and the parents.
Students can electronically submit and receive online feedback on their work.
Students can communicate and collaborate with their peers and teachers via online discussion forums and the school wiki. It is easy for students to stay in touch with school activities and homework even if they are absent from school or away at camp.
Parents can be involved with their child's school life through the ‘Parent Portal' giving them access to class resources, discussions, homework tasks, attendance, mark book, timetable, extra curricular activities and other relevant information. The parents have increased visibility into the school allowing them to participate and be more involved.
